Working with babies

Parents commonly bring their baby to craniosacral therapy in the first few weeks or months after birth.

Nurturing touch from a skilled therapist can help by calming the nervous system through supportive, non-directive touch.

The treatment process is gentle and supportive of the needs of both parents and child.

What is Craniosacral Therapy

How does Craniosacral Therapy work?

The body’s response to difficulty can become a problem in itself, preventing the natural process of healing. Treatments like Craniosacral Therapy can be helpful in changing the message, retraining the nervous system and dialling down the pain.

Creating the conditions for change

A key element of Craniosacral Therapy is bringing awareness to the body through touch. It helps us learn to negotiate, accept, and eventually welcome a wide range of sensations, feelings and emotions in the body, giving us an increased ability to respond creatively to the circumstances of our lives. By trusting the underlying forces of health in the body we can bring about greater health and wholeness.

Frequently
asked questions

Where do you work ?

One Allan Park Wellbeing Clinic, 1 Allan Park, Stirling, FK8 2QG

Dhanakosa, Balquidder, Lochearnhead FK19 8PQ

What to expect ?

Sessions last up to an hour. After an initial consultation you will lie fully clothed on a massage table and I will make light contact mostly around the head, neck and base of the spine. Because the body functions as a whole, I may focus on areas other than where your symptoms occur. Babies can be treated lying on Mum or Dad.

How many sessions will I need ?

For some people, 2 or 3 sessions are enough. Others find 6 to 10 sessions may be needed to experience the benefits of the work. Where experiences and symptoms are deep rooted or long-lasting, treatments over a longer period may be helpful..

What do you charge ?

What do you charge ? I charge £55 per session or £40 children and babies. Discretionary concessions may be available. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss payment options. At least 24 hours notice is required when cancelling or postponing appointments.

Testimonials

“I was suffering from a really bad neck/shoulder pain and a friend suggested I tried craniosacral therapy, to be honest I hadn’t heard of it before but I was in pain so was happy to try anything that might help! Well, it wasn’t long before Lisa was working her magic, and to be honest, my scepticism was very quickly abandoned, as I could feel the benefit of her light touch and the path to recovery was underway.

Lisa’s gentle compassionate presence combined with her expertise and natural intuitive ability as a therapist always made me feel completely safe. Due to long covid I had a lot of pain, especially in my chest and lower legs and Lisa made sure I was totally comfortable before and during working gently in these areas. An unexpected benefit I’ve experienced is feeling much more at ease in my own skin again.

“Lisa’s approach is gentle and kind. I struggled with touch and connection due to complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD), however the trust that built between us has helped me come home to myself. In the sessions I felt supported to listen to my body and this allowed shifts and release that felt profoundly healing.”
